akutibu private education supports mentally gifted students

Giften children often appear to be abnormal if the cause disruptions to their environment or if they are felt to lack adequate maturity for their age. We support gifted children and particularly capable children with school subject and we also support them psychologically. The gifted programs at Frankfurt am Main are taken care of by Marius Jost personally. In the following text you can learn more about remarkable and intellectually gifted children and the support that we offer for them.

Is my child gifted?

This question is usually difficult to answer. Diese Frage kann normalerweise nicht sofort beantwortet werden. In a normal case, a gifted child first accustoms himself or herself to the environment and so they evade the fact of their special gifts. Whether a child is gifted should be determined by the best and most qualified professionals. Usually it can be determined by a psychological psychotherepist or a qualified school psychologist, whether a child is actually gifted. If a child already has an IQ over 130 (using the German IQ scale), it is appears to be clear that we can handle that case.We also support children who have a good or an average IQ but who exhibit particularly strong abilities or clear signs of being inadequately challenged e.g. very good grades at school

Being gifted, having particularly strong talents or at the least being under-challenged is usually not easy for the life of a child. If a child of 2 1/2 years is already strong at verbal communication or learns very early to write, parents and educators are often thrown a little off guard. In kindergarten or at school children are often labeled as having peculiar behavior.

We would like to touch on this subject because we hold a critical position towards intelligence testing. The validity of such tests have been shown through scientific studies but higher IQs can also be achieved by the same test taker through simple practice.

Gifts and Differences": Important Strides

It is very important to have a conscientiously executed assessment of this subject. Otherwise we cannot expect a child to develop a healthy self-awareness. The field of education has special congruence and consequences for the possibility of a family life without friction.

How can one identify a lack of support?

Different signs can but need not indicate that children and students have a special gift or have high potential:

  • Boredom, especially during breaks from school
  • Aggression without any apparent reason
  • Relative easy when working with older friends and siblings on their written work
  • Rich vocabulary, unusually good grammatical or mathematical abilites or particularly good motor skills
  • Problems being accepted by peers, few problems being accepted by many adults
  • Statements for evaluations such as, "I am happy when I have a project/ when I am challenged."
  • Exhaustion after effort (as if their own high potential is falsely assessed)

Other Centers: An important address is the club of the gifted, "Mensa of Germany", a registered society. There is also help for intellectually gifted people from countries and federal administrations. We would be glad to take your inquires about these centers.

Which forms of support does akutibu private education offer for intellectually gifted and high potential students?

On the one hand, we support gifted students through one-on-one and small group instruction. On the other hand, we provide these children with a special psychological education: we Wir fördern hochbegabte Schüler einerseits durch Einzel und Kleingruppenunterricht. Andererseits bieten wir speziell für diese Kinder eine Psychoedukation an: we convey to your child, how he or she can manage his or her environment. Along these lines, the themes of "Knowing and Expressing Emotions", "Communication", and "Relaxation and Resource Management" play an important role.

Über Marius Jost

"(...) Fachlich ist er top, hat dazu einen wirklich guten Zugang zu den Kindern. Er stellt sich auf ihre Stärken, Schwächen und Lerntypen ein, und ist dadurch in der Lage, selbst Teenager zu motivieren und das Beste aus ihnen herauszuholen, - zielorientiert und doch verständnisvoll."
